The Honourable Stuart Young, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister and Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs and the Honourable Colm Imbert, Minister of Finance, addressed the Post-Cabinet Press Briefing yesterday (Thursday 25th May 2017) at the Diplomatic Centre, St. Ann’s.
Minister Young said Cabinet agreed today that the public holiday for the celebration of Eid Ul Fitr will be on Monday 26 June, 2017.
Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert said Republic Bank won a bid to provide a $1 Billion loan facility to the Government at a rate of 4.25 per cent. This latest borrowing is part of Government’s plan to finance the $6 Billion budget deficit.
Republic Bank, ANSA Merchant Bank, First Citizens, First Caribbean International Bank and Republic Bank all tendered to provide the loan facility.
The Honourable Stuart Young announced that Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley will lead a delegation on a two-day official visit to Chile. The delegation will leave on Sunday 28th May, 2017 and return Wednesday 31st May 2017.
