The Ministry of Education wishes to announce that the electrical problems that are being experienced at the North Eastern College, Sangre Grande will be rectified within 24 – 48 hours.
The problem arose as a result of a burst transformer and a consequent disconstruction of a major cable at the school. The problem was identified and officials at the Education Facilities Company Limited (EFCL) and the Ministry of Education visited the school and conducted an assessment of the problem. The EFCL has appointed a contractor who has assured the Ministry of Education that the problem will be attended to expeditiously, that is, the burnt out transformer will be replaced.
The contractor has promised to be on the job for 24 hours, if necessary. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) has also been contacted and has promised to give full support in the effort to have school resumed as quickly as possible.
Parents are advised to liaise with the school authorities for information regarding the resumption of school which as indicated will be resumed in the next 24 to 48 hours.
