October 27, 2016: They come to the library with a wealth of life experience. But more senior citizens are becoming interested in computer literacy and acquiring basic internet skills.
This interest is the driving force behind the Tobago Library Services' Senior Citizens Computer Literacy Programme, which just completed its fifth cycle. The six-week course started on September 12, with 42 participants. The programme is in keeping with the Library’s commitment to have programmes that include all spheres of the population.
In addition to learning the basic ways to use a computer and productivity programmes—such as Microsoft Word and sending emails—the seniors learned how to use internet applications like YouTube, Skype and Facebook.
The successful participants will receive certificates on October 27, 2016 at a ceremony at the Scarborough Library Facility.
