September 15, 2016: The Water and Sewerage Authority (the “Authority”) advises customers in Central and South-West Trinidad currently affected by emergency repair works on a collapsed pipeline, at the Desalcott owned and operated Point Lisas Desalination Plant that repairs have been completed, but checks are being conducted to ensure that there are no further leaks.

Full restart of the Plant is expected by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday 15th September, 2016.

The Authority further advises customers that the temporary rotation of water supply schedules, implemented at the commencement of the disruption in service on Tuesday 13th September, will remain in effect until the Plant resumes full operation.

Customers are asked to manage their water use efficiently, as it may take 12 to 24 hours for the supply to normalize to some affected areas, after the Plant returns to full operation.

For further information or assistance, customers are encouraged to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/26. A limited truck-borne water service will be available with priority given to special homes, health care and educational institutions.

The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience caused as a result of this situation at the Desalination Plant.
