Port of Spain, 27th March, 2020: On Tuesday 17th March, the Trinidad and Tobago Creative Industries Company Limited announced that, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, various initiatives would be postponed. Listed among them were initiatives executed by The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT). MusicTT understands the importance of social distancing and quarantining at this point in time and has decided to continue in their drive to deliver live music to the world while providing opportunities for its artistes. MusicTT is taking its Live Music District (LMD) Digital.
MusicTT will host the following series of online LMD events:
- “We Inside Concert Series” - hosted by Marcus Braveboy and Stef Kalloo. These free online performances will be streamed through MusicTT’s Instagram channel (@musicoftt) as well as the featured Artistes’ channels. The online streamed concerts will air every Tuesday and Friday night over a 3-week period, starting from March 31st at 8pm. The online concert will feature 2 artistes per show: a combination of amazing on the rise artistes coupled with top underground and mainstream performers.
- “Live at Lunch” – MusicTT continues its partnership with the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts (MCDCA) for its Live at Lunch series. These concerts will continue to take place on the last Friday of every month and will be streamed via MCDCA's social media pages and select partnering radio stations.
- MusicTT will be partnering with Gospel Music award-winning Aspire Agency and Golden Eagle to produce "Online Quarantine Concert" on Sunday 29thMarch at 7pm. This concert will air via Facebook Live through the Aspire Agency Facebook page. Featured cast includes: Positive, Farenite, Curtis Jordan, Renee Lawrence, Jahzy, and DJ Omari from W107.1. There will also be special surprise performances from international and regional artistes.
Melissa Jimenez, MusicTT’s General Manager, stated “We understand that the economy has taken a heavy hit during these difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That said, MusicTT will continue to do its part in providing opportunities for local artistes and promoting live performances for all to enjoy in the comfort and safety of their own homes through the LMD. We encourage you to take this time to do some “spring cleaning” of your digital assets, social media accounts, create more music, start a blog or learn something new – whatever you do, keep yourself engaged in working on your business or your brand. This too shall pass - so let’s all be safe, be productive and be ready.”
MusicTT will also continue its RVRB webinar series with April’s “Networking in the Music Industry” facilitated by Marcus Braveboy. Previous webinars will be available on MusicTT’s YouTube page, so be sure to subscribe to be notified when the newest episodes are available. Also, check out MusicTT’s website for a listing of resources and educational tools available to artistes.
