The Tertiary Sector in Trinidad and Tobago is generally well organised and is doing a commendable job of turning-out high quality students in a wide range or fields, which is a great benefit to the country.
This view from Dr. the Honourable Lovell Francis, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, as he addressed over thirty (30) representatives of various tertiary education institutions who participated in the Ministry of Education (MOE) Higher Education Survey Forum at Education Towers, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain on Friday 5th March 2020.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) Higher Education Survey 2019 targets all Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) Accredited and Registered post-secondary and tertiary institutions in Trinidad and Tobago. The critical outcome of the MOE Higher Education Data Survey is to provide consistent, reliable, complete and accurate data on the performance of individual institutions and of the sector as a whole.
This data will play an integral role in guiding policy and decision making for the post-secondary and tertiary sector and in the more immediate future, inform reports and publications on the sector such as the Statistical Digest and the ACTT Compendium of Registered, Accredited and Recognised Institutions, Awarding Bodies and Programmes.
Once a positive response rate is achieved, the data will be forwarded to Central Statistical Office (CSO) for onward transmission to international benchmarking agencies for country comparisons.
Among the institutions represented at the meeting were the University of the West Indies (UWI), University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad & Tobago (COSTAATT), Trinidad & Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI), SERVOL, MIC-IT, Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies (CCLCS), Caribbean Nazarene College, St Andrews Theological College, Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad & Tobago (ETITT) and the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) among others.
