July 20, 2016: The official visit of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica continued today with the first activity being a visit to the Parliament of Jamaica, Gordon House.

On hand to welcome Prime Minister Rowley and his delegation were Senator the Honourable Tom Tavares-Finson, President of the Senate; the Honourable Pearnel Charles, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Leader of Government Business in the Senate; the Honourable Derrick Smith, Leader of Government Business in the House of Representatives; Senator Mark Golding, Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate; Mrs Heather Cooke, Clerk of the House of Representatives and Mrs Valerie Curtis, Deputy Clerk of the House of Representatives.

Following this engagement the delegation then made its way back to the Pegasus Hotel where a courtesy call with the Leader of the Opposition, Mrs Portia Simpson-Miller, and other members of the Opposition took place.

Mrs Simpson-Miller personally conveyed condolences on the passing of Former Prime Minister Patrick Manning and acknowledged the great work he did as a leader in CARICOM. She also expressed hope that the talks with the Government of Jamaica are fruitful and produce long lasting benefits to both nations.

Both Dr Rowley and Mrs Simpson-Miller agreed that Caribbean Leaders have a duty to work towards facilitating a better life for all CARICOM citizens as well as to preserve and advance the Caribbean Community.
Dr Rowley and the Trinidad and Tobago delegation then went on to a meeting with Former Prime Minister of Jamaica and Chairman of the CARICOM Review Commission, Mr Bruce Golding, and other members of the CARICOM Review Commission. That meeting centred on the role and operation of CARICOM.

Prime Minister Rowley and the delegation were then hosted to lunch by the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce followed by a meeting with private sector organisations.

The day's activities were to continue with a guided tour of the Bob Marley Museum and a reception hosted by the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica, His Excellency Mr Fitzgerald Jeffery.
