Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL), has been working closely with a diverse range of tourism stakeholders, facilitation agencies and the private corporate sector to elevate the island’s tourism industry.
Tourism Trinidad Limited recently held the first of many Engagement Sessions at the San Fernando Room of the Hyatt Regency Trinidad to update primary tourism stakeholders on the company’s One Year Strategic Action Plan.
Over twenty (20) tourism stakeholders (Heads), representing tour operators, the hotel association, small tourism accommodation owners, tour guides, tourist transport, hospitality and tourism training institutes, UWI St. Augustine, Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean Airlines, Airport Authority, YSATT and InvesTT, were in attendance,
Speaking to the packed audience at the event, Chairman of Tourism Trinidad Limited, Howard Chin Lee explained that “Tourism Trinidad will engage in an open and transparent partnership with stakeholders, setting the stage for a different kind of tourism and a different way of operating. It’s the kind of tourism that calls on us to be responsible and resilient in the face of change and to deliver on our promises, said Chin Lee.”
Chief Executive Officer (Ag.), Heidi Alert, and the Executive Management Team of Tourism Trinidad presented on the company’s plans, objectives, and strategic direction. Mrs. Alert reminded the stakeholders of the primary goals of the company, which in broad terms, aims to increase arrivals, increase hotel occupancy and improve the sector’s overall contribution to GDP.
Stakeholders engaged in meaningful dialogue, providing constructive feedback with many invaluable ideas and recommendations on the way forward.
Discussions focused on the tourism strategies for the roll out of Tourism Trinidad’s campaigns for the key niches of sports, events and business conferences – in keeping with the company’s mandate and strategic focus.
Suggestions from the group included enhancing the quality of the visitor/guest experience, creating comprehensive tourism incentives packages for potential investors, improving our customer service delivery, tourism regulation and the creation of a greater bank of Diaspora related events to increase visitor arrivals and visitor spend.
The tourism stakeholders welcomed this new, solutions-oriented business model for engagement which Tourism Trinidad Limited says is aimed at building a stronger and more viable tourism sector and transforming the island’s tourism landscape; in partnership with industry and community.
