July 7, 2016: Thirty-five students of St. Barbs Government Primary School located in Laventille, Trinidad visited the Office Chief Secretary on July 5.
They learned first-hand about the history of the Assembly. Teacher Paula Miller said was a great cultural experience for the youngsters, some of whom visited Tobago for the first time.
“Previously the trips would have been around Trinidad and as Tobago is our sister isle we decided to let the children have an experience of Tobago.”
Miller believes London is a good role model for the young ones to admire. She said trips like these are part of the new educational mandate for Social Studies classes.
“With an actual interaction you’re hearing, you’re feeling, you’re touching and that is a more memorable learning experience for the students.”
They visited several sites including the Mystery Tomb in Plymouth, Healing With Horses Foundation, and the Botanical Gardens in Scarborough.
