Caribbean researchers meeting in Trinidad & Tobago for the Caribbean Research Methodologies Conference 2018 have been assured the Ministry of Education will lend a receptive ear to their findings to improve the education system in this country. This assurance was given by the Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education during his address to delegates and final-year education students from the University of Trinidad & Tobago at the opening of the conference on Wednesday 12th September, 2018.

“Education is dynamic and because of the changes and the developments in education, it is important always for us to solicit and encourage the views of educators, and in doing your research, it will help us to keep abreast of all these changes that are being made in the area of education.” Minister Garcia said.

Minister Garcia, who himself served the education sector literally all his working life, told the conference  the education system needs persons who are committed and have the knowledge about the innovations that are taking place in education internationally.

He said “Today, we hear so much about technology and the technological advances that are taking place in education. In fact, on Monday at Parliament, I will be providing information on technological changes the Ministry of Education is prepared to undergo, so that our children will be kept abreast of what is happening and perhaps this Conference can help us in coming to terms with all of these changes because of your research.”

Minister Anthony Garcia gave the commitment the Ministry of Education will continue to engage organisations, particularly those whose remit is the field of education, to work together at ensuring that our education system is the best that we can offer.

The Caribbean Research Methodologies Conference 2018 was organised by the UTT Centre for Education and was held at the UTT Valsayn Campus.
