27 October 2017: Minister of National Security Major General (Ret’d) the Honourable Edmund Dillon strongly condemns the killing of Prison Officer Glenford Gardner, a dedicated law enforcement officer.
Minister Dillon extends deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Officer Gardener on behalf of the Ministry of National Security and by extension the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The Minister gives his assurance that law enforcement personnel supported by other agencies of National Security are applying all resources in treating with this heinous act and all acts of violence against serving officers.
Minister Dillon reiterates that violence against law enforcement officers will not be tolerated as these officers work tirelessly to maintain peace and security in the country. No stone will be left unturned in bringing all perpetrators of attacks against national security officers to swift justice. These criminals will feel the full brunt of the law.
Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service and all arms of Law Enforcement are assured that the Government will be giving priority attention to strengthening the safety and security of officers.
